Cell Therapeutics (CITC), Novarax (NVAZ), Human Genome (HGSI) Move

Several biotechs are trading on huge volume early in the session:

Cell Therapeutics (CTIC) has traded almost four million shares, and is up 2% to $1.69. The Food and Drug Administration accepted its application for review of pixantrone for refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of cancer, yesterday.

Novarax (NVAX) has traded almost 1.5 million shares, at $5.11, down 2%. The company announced that its H1N1 test drug had shown promise in ferrets. The market did not see terribly impressed.

Human Genome Sciences (HGSI) is up 5% on 1.6 million shares to $18.13. There have been some positive notes on the company’s pipeline, but no recent news. The shares seem to be part of an overall market interest in biotech.

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (BRCX) is down 2% on over one million shares, trading at $12.38. The government’s comments about speeding H1N1 vaccines to market may be helping the stock
