The following companies were mentioned in the January 29th issue of BusinessWeek as having the highest level of social responsibility within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry.

Fresenius Medical Care (FMS)
Provides Energy and water use, and waste generated in the breakdown of treatment costs.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
Offers AIDS drugs at cost to developing nations, and devotes large R&D dollars to malaria and TB. In fact, 90% of GSK’s vaccine sales are at non-profit prices to developing nations.

IMS Health (RX)
Environmental and global health consulting work.

Novo Nordisk (NVO)
Lower-cost generic durgs; efforts in leprosy and bird flu research.

Quest Diagnostics (DGX)
Business ownership diversity program for minorities, women, and veterans.

Roche (ROG.L)
Improving access to medicine, and investing in drug research for developing nations.
